What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring musician?

“Practice your instrument as if it's as important as eating food and drinking water. Don't miss a day and stay focused on your goals. ”

What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO?

“Playing great music with great people! My family attended Peter and the Wolf and my son is STILL talking about it. He loved the bird. That impression for a 5-year-old is something magical.”

Why do you believe in the importance of music education?

“Personally, the band program at my middle school gave me something to look forward to every day. I was shy, awkward, and afraid of large social environments. The band gave me an artistic and social outlet and some of my life-long friends, in addition to what would become my career. Not all students fit into the mix easily and I'm grateful that music education can provide opportunities for kids like me. As an adult, I make friends easily and have a rewarding life. Thank you music education!”
