How old were you when you started playing your instrument?
"I started to play the cello at the age of 8, inspired by my best friend’s cello playing father: Ernest Strauss who still practices every day at the age of 93!"
What is your favorite music to listen to?
"What's on my music stand when I practice. I try to treat each composition as a gem that deserves my utmost attention. Desert Island Choice: Bach's "Erbarme dich, mein Gott" from the St. Matthew Passion"
Besides the Bakersfield Symphony, what else do you do for a living?
"I am part of the “Freeway Philharmonic”, playing in orchestras from Santa Rosa to Monterey (some eight orchestras): almost every week a different orchestra. I taught at numerous universities in CO, PA, MS, and CA and now teach only online lessons"
What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring musician?
"Listen"
What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO?
"Camaraderie and the desire to present live music to our audiences"
