How old were you when you started playing your instrument?
“I was 12 when I started playing bassoon.”
What is your favorite music to listen to?
“I love most genres of music, fitting them to my mood, but currently I am listening to Pink, Olatuja and the soundtrack from A Star is Born.”
What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring musician?
“Seek out opportunities to play for others for new musical ideas and to get feedback.”
What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO?
“I'm enjoying seeing how Stilian is very engaged and focused. He crafts the overarching form or structure of each piece so that the performances are very affecting. “
Why do you believe in the importance of music education?
“Music is a language everyone can relate to in some way and we all strive to communicate with one another. Being in music class can be an artistic outlet for some, provide a haven of friendships for others, and connect our brain with our bodies in a way science, math or english classes can't. And everyone should check out the TONS more evidence-based data on the benefits of musical education online.”
