Lisa Fritz, Violin I
How old were you when you started playing your instrument?
“ I started on the violin at the age of 6 when my grandfather gave me his violin.”
Besides the Bakersfield Symphony, what else do you do for a living?
“For ten years I was apart of the Visalia Unified Music Team teaching orchestra until stepping aside to be a full-time mom for our young children, as well as performing professionally with the BSO and Sequoia Symphonies. I also direct the Sequoia Strings Youth Orchestra here in Visalia.”
What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring musician?
“Advice I would give is to always remember that you play your instrument, and not work it. If you do not emote joy when you perform, why bother? No one else will experience it either if you do not!”
What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO?
“The BSO performs at a very high level, and accomplishes this while still feeling like a family who pushes one another to reach new heights.”
